Hot Coffee Recipes for the Winter
Cappuccino #1
(from the Brunch Basket)
serves 6
3 cups brewed coffee
3 cups half and half cream
½ cup Kahlua
¼ cup dark rum
¼ cup brandy
6 cinnamon sticks
In a medium saucepan combine coffee,
Cream and liquors. Cover and hear;
Do not boil.
Serve immediately with cinnamon sticks.
Cappucino #2
(from Better Homes New Cook Book)
serves 6
Grind your coffee to a very fine
consistency and brew in coffeepot,
this is your espresso,
In a small mixing bowl beat ½ cup
Whipping cream and 1 T powdered sugar
till soft peaks form and tips curl.
Pour 2 cups hot espresso into six 4 oz. cups.
Add a large spoonful of whipped cream
To each cup and sprinkle with
finely shredded orange peel.
Stir very gently to combine
Serve with cinnamon sticks if desired.
Irish Coffee
(from an International Cookbook)
¾ cup strong hot coffee
2 T Irish Whiskey
1-2 tsp. Brown sugar
Combine and
pour 1 T whipping cream atop.
Café au Grand Marnier
¾ cup hot strong coffee
1 & ½ oz Grand Marnier
Top with whipped cream.
Dessert Coffees Galore
Top any of these with a dollop of whipped cream.
Chocolate-Orange:
Stir 1 T chocolate syrup
&
1 T orange liqueur into hot coffee.
Mocha:
Stir 1 T chocolate syrup
&
1 T coffee liqueur into hot coffee.
Amaretto:
You guessed it! 1 T of Amaretto
Liqueur into your coffee.
Other possibilities include
Hazelnut liqueur, chocolate-mint liqueur
Or chocolate cream liqueur
TRULY, TRULY MOCHA
One of my favorite combinations!
Make yourself half a cup of hot chocolate,
then fill the mug the rest of the way with black coffee.
Here’s a recipe for making your own homemade
Hot Chocolate Mix to have on hand for those winter weeks.
Enough for 50 (!) cups of cocoa
One 14 oz. Jar of powdered creamer
25.6 oz. of powdered milk
1 lb. of powdered sugar
1lb. unsweetened cocoa mix
Mix all this thoroughly and store in an
Airtight container.
Takes about 1/3 cup mix per mug of
Hot water.
HOMEMADE KAHLUA
Bottle this as gifts!
4 cups sugar
4 cups water
¾ cup dry instant coffee
5 T vanilla
1 quart vodka
In a pan, bring sugar and water to a boil
Then remove from the heat.
Add the coffee and vanilla.
Cool completely.
Add vodka and stir well.
Store in a dark place for 1 month.
Strain and bottle in attractive bottles
Or pour into your own decanter.
